Will My Xbox Save My Game Progress?

i just bought red dead redemption.. i f.cking scratched it and now it wont work.. if i buy a new copy will i have to play from the beginning again or will it recognize my game progress?

Suggestion:

ur gameplay is saved on ur hardrive and if u use a different game disk u will have all the progress u had before no wrys. good game choice too red dead redemption is sweet
