Transferring Game Saves from Xbox 360 Arcade to New Slim 250gb Console?

Son has just received his new Xbox 360 slim 250gb console. Is there any easy way I can help him transfer his 243mb of game saves from his existing Xbox (Arcade) onto the new console?

I know that there is an official Microsoft Hard Drive Transfer Kit available, but am hoping that I really don't have to lash out another £14.99 on something that will be redundant after one use?

Is it possible to use a USB memory stick to copy the files onto? I don't have a decent one of these either, so would have to purchase – but at least it could be reused for other stuff.

Not very technical, so simple step-by-step answers really appreciated!

Thanks in anticipation from one stressed-out single mum who was (stupidly) hoping for a quiet Saturday!

Suggestion:

Yeah It is possible to use a USB data stick to transfer the data, you would insert the stick into one of the slots,go onto system settings, then click memory and highlight hard-drive, bearing in mind that there should be one saying Memory Unit/Portable device…once you have highlighted hard-drive press the Y button…which should take you onto a screen saying Rename,Format,Clear System Cache and Transfer Content…you will want to choose transfer content, then choose the device and then select what you want to move…then hey presto its on the memory stick, and you practically do the reverse to get it onto the other Xbox…just select the portable device and click transfer content and select the hard drive instead… Hope This Helped :)
