If I Copy a Game to an Xbox Hard-drive, Will the Disc Play on a Different Xbox?

That's pretty much self-explanatory, but i was wondering about because i have a scratched game i can't play any longer. I know you can copy games to an xbox hard drive, and i know you still need the disc to play the game such as copy right issues or whatever, but if i download the game from a friends disc to my xbox, and use my scratched disc will it still work out? If it does, will he still be able to play using his disc?

Suggestion:

As ned said yes, beacuse if you download the game onto your hard drive it downloades almost all of the data of the disk. So you dont really need the disk ( except of course to play the game!)
