How Come My Xbox 360 Game Won't Start Even Though It's Installed to My Hard Drive?

My BC2 got a scratch on it and stopped working so I borrowed my friend's copy and installed it to my hard drive. Now when I put my disk in the game will launch but once I "press start to play" the xbox just goes to a black screen and after a while it will say my disk is unreadable. Is there a certain different way I should be launching the game or is it just my xbox?

Suggestion:

A few things, go in game library then put play, and insert the disc. If not the disc must be scratched badly, or the 360's reader is messed up.
