Can You Install a Game on Your Xbox 360, and Use the Same Game, but Another Different Disc to Run the Game?

Can you install a game on your xbox 360, and use the same game, but another different disc to run the game?

My Situation: I have a scratched xbox 360 COD MW2 game disc (I can play the game, but midway of a match there would be a popup that says the disc is unreadable), is it possible to rent the game from blockbuster, install it to the system, and use the scratched cd to play the game?

In essence, I am asking whether you can install an xbox 360 game from a rental, then use a scratched legitimate copy of the same game to run the game? Cheers

Suggestion:

I'm guessing here but does this disk have a ring like scratch? For about the cost of renting it you can take it to any games store and have it repaired. It'll save space on your drive and the game will no longer mess up midway. Win win.
