The power supply itself has more than a few safeguards that will keep harm from coming to your system. The power supply even turns it off when it recognizes that there is too much voltage or the temperature is just too high. In this case the lights will turn red or the system will turn off. In the worst case the system will freeze and not even give you an error code.
There are a few different things that you can try to fix your system. First of all you need to see what temperature the power supply is currently at, if it is not cool there is a problem and the red light may have been an indicator to that fact. If that is the case then put your power supply in a nice well ventilated space and turn off your system. When it has cooled sufficiently then you can turn the system back on.
