Nhl 10 – a Review for the Ages

EA Sports gave us NHL 2010 recently. When I got the game, I was thinking about just how they were going to top NHL 2009. Because that game was widely recognized as the most definitive NHL game ever made. I’m glad to report that EA has done it once more, not just changing 09′s game mechanics but also adding dozens of new gameplay elements that should make those who are familiar with last years game say things such as, “OMG! This new feature is stellar!,” and, “I absolutely love the new fighting system, puck control, checking control, player control, dozens of new features and modes, better online content, etc.

Types Of Play:

There is a myriad of different game modes to choose from. Some modes include: a quick game, a new mode Battle for the Cup, playoff season mode, full season of games mode, a Be a Pro Mode, Be a GM mode, and a tournament mode.

Graphics:

I immediately noticed the impressive graphics in NHL 10. Details such as re-creating each teams stadium is in the game. So when you play as the Calgary Flames, you are playing in the Saddledome in Calgary and it looks like that stadium. Another new feature is the “fan intensity”. Depending on how well your team is playing, the fans will get more and more intense. When you play play-off games, the fans are automatically super intense!

Overall:

With NHL 09 being such an awesome game, I wondered how EA could possibly out do themselves. It’s good. It’s really good. Fans of NHL games will not be disappointed in any way and even newcomers to this series will find one of the best, most enjoyable, and really engaging hockey game EA has ever put on the shelves. This Game is easily worth a 9.4 out of 10.
