Simple grinding.
Grinding is one way to go. Certain enemies drop items that are coveted by other players. You can collect cloth and money from humanoids. The cloth that these foes will drop is based on their level. Unload these in the auction house for a nice return. Lower level cloths sometimes sell for more than higher level ones. Prices vary on different realms so make sure to notice what sells well on yours. You can also target monsters that drop tradeskill items. Like the plant mobs in Wintergrasp that drop an item that fetches a high price. Once you learn what sells well on your realm, the rest is easy.
Questing for gold.
You can make cash by questing from the beginning. This is definitely not a secret. After you are max level, you can focus on daily quests. Make sure to do daily quests when you require more gold. Figure out a course to do these quests more efficiently.
Profitable professions.
Many people use a profession to earn tons of gold. Plan on using a lot of time and sometimes gold to max out a profession. A good way to start is with skinning and then add one of either mining or herbalism. Then you ought to gather herbs or ore and skin every beast on you way to 80. By selling these, you will have enough gold to keep you going. When you have some gold, you have the option of changing professions. These can be costly to level up so be aware. These can be used to make additional gold once they are skilled highly enough. Keep one gathering and one production profession to help offset the production costs. Some good matches are [engineering/mining, skinning/leatherworking, and so on/.
