There is a variety of races one can choose if he wants to build up a mage – Human, Gnome and Draenei race (Alliance) and Blood Elf, Troll and Undead race (Horde). A Mage is a nice class to play and is often warmly welcomed by other players in groups and raids. He has a few buffs he can cast and the most popular one is definitely the Arcane Brilliance popularly called the Intelect Buff. A mage is also famous for his “consumables”, meaning he can make food & water for his own purposes and for other players as well. These consumables restore both mana and hit points. It is also nice to have Mages in the group because they can Polymorph Humanoids and Beasts. Even though you will find a lot of easy tank & spank fights these days it is sometimes still nice to crowd control a few mobs.
Mages buffs, spells that can create and transform are all nice but they don’t make him the best player in the game and it is that his damage spells and abilities make him a great damage dealer. His spells are based on Arcane, Fire and Frost damage. Spells like Blizzard, Flame Strike, Arcane Explosion, Cone of Cold and other damaging spells do damage on multiple mobs and can place a Mage on top of the damage meters. He also possesses AoE spells like Arcane Explosion, Blizzard, Cone of Cold and Flame Strike which cause quite nice amount of damage to multiple enemies and also contribute to the overall amount of damage Mage does in a raid.
