Looks like you need a visit back in time, to the embryonic days of sports games, if you have your doubts about PS3 Madden 10. Maybe it’s an obtuse comparison, lavishing platitudes on PS3 Madden 10, just because it blows every past video football game out of the water. After viewing the earliest football games, however, you’ll understand why PS3 Madden 10 is such an achievement. At the dawn of game consoles, one of the top requests from every hardcore gamer was a football video game for their system, naturally. Trouble was, the video consoles’ abilities weren’t as fully realized as gamers’ football fantasies, so hardcore gamers had to make do with what was there. In any ads or promos, the manufacturers of this one insisted “all the excitement” of the genuine article. With an open path to the end zone, this is what the number one console in the day scored a touchdown with.
The football players look like blocky little robots. That’s just a harsh fact. As crude-looking as that picture is, it’s even worse when you see the game in action. This one, like all early games, suffered from the “blinking graphics” syndrome, due to low programming capacity. The “crowd” cheering sounded closer to a car running over gravel. Things were so limited that a scrolling screen was out of the question. Within a couple years, things would pick up slightly, with a competing console developing a football video game. It certainly was an improvement, with improved graphics, sound, and gameplay. Still needed work, though. Yes, people were pretty stoked to see some improvements, but this wasn’t the sports video to put sports games on top. It would take a few more years for that to happen. This next one reaped the benefits of the 8-bit gaming revolution, and people still rave about it to this day. For many years, this was the greatest football video game.
Not hard to understand why that caught on – they were the first to really bring a more comprehensive simulation of football to the video console. Everything – sound, visuals – got such a major upgrade that this was the final word in sports video games. And given that they’re making a new online version, there’s still a following for it. But even that one can’t compete with PS3 Madden 10. Take a look at it, after taking in all of those older games. Yes, technology has been good to the video game world in general, and the football video game has benefited from it all. But there’s no purpose in ragging on the early games. You get it. The older football video games served a purpose, and set the stage for bigger, better sports video games. Of course, PS3 Madden 10 has really taken the ball and ran with it, which is cause for serious celebration in the video game world. And of course, the critics are equally enthusiastic about PS3 Madden 10, which is even more good news for fans of the franchise. Comments like “realistic and enjoyable” pepper each PS3 Madden 10 review. EA Sports has sacked all the competition with PS3 Madden 10, to nobody’s surprise. No doubt, PS3 Madden 10 is the real sport of champions, and don’t let some douchebag tell you otherwise. Hey, each PlayStation sports video game is EPIC in its own way, but for our money, PS3 Madden 10 is the stuff legends are made of. For many, this is the PlayStation football game by which all others are measured. This is the game for the real men, not just the little kids, when you go toe-to-toe for some serious money. PlayStation Madden 10 maniacs have the opportunity to challenge each other for some serious cash. The victory – and your opponent’s cash – will be in your hands, once you know the score in PS3 Madden 10.
