Since There Are No Xbox 360 Cd Keys What Stops People from Burning Games and Giving Them Away to Friends?

The system MUST read the copyright information from the disc (which cannot be copied because it's not part of the readable surface of the disc) before it will play a game. This applies even if you install the game to your hard drive (to save your laser, keep your system from over heating and load faster). You still have to have the game in the system at the time you play it. You can play ripped games on modded systems but, look on E-Bay as there are THOUSANDS of XBox Live banned consoles from people who got caught with modded XBox system.

Bottom line, it's just not worth it.

Suggestion:

the Xbox will not read burned discs unless it is heavily modded. this can be done but is quite a pain in the ***. it involves removing the disc drive that comes stock, and adding a new one that is compatible with the machine.
