Suggestion:
NO!!! Anyone who tells you yes AND no is ill informed. The hardware may function but it's a waiting game until you're banned. On top of that you won't be able update properly, once the update are done they will typically address the west crack which will, in turn, brick your 360. You can still play, but no online or achievements. I'm an online junkie and have seen and done the mods, not worth it.

Yes- it is possible
No- you will be banned automatically because Xbox live has electronic censory which detects modified xboxes and bands the console(and the user) from ever accessing Xbox live again.
Yes they exist. Yes you can. But you need to have the knowledge and experience to do it right. If you don't well then your screwed.
