Suggestion:
Its impossible and here's why.
1. If you could then you could sell the game disc to one of your friends, and sony will lose money.
2. Even if you could a PS3 game takes up-to 50 GB so if you have the 80 GB version like me you only could have one game in.
3. Its faster to eject a disc that to delete something, when I press the disc eject on the ps3 it takes about 3 sec till its out. Try deleting a 50 GB or copying it via USB, usb have a theoretical speed of 480 Mbps basically 60 MBps. So you take 50 GB and divide it with 60 MB, 50.000/60MB is 833 sec and divide it with 60 (bc there is 60 sec in one minute). Where you get 14 min to transfer a 50 GB disc, now this is theoretical which means you'll most likely never reach these speeds, so maybe 20 or 25 min.
4. Every nerd knows that the more data you have on your hdd the slower the system will get, bc the computer have to search all the time. So why do you think they use disc in the gaming world.

Currently its not possible to install games to hard drive like the 360, that is unless the developer has decided to allow the option. ie. valkyria chronicles, ridge racer 7 and so on.
A ps3 bluray game maximum size is approx 50gb, but the average size is about 18gb but because a lot of data is repeated on bluray games, its unlikely an average game fully installed would be 18gb.
I personally don't know the reason why sony haven't released a patch to allow users to install games, its ideal for owners such as myself who have a 500gb installed.
